New energy industrial strategy in the US Southeast can catalyze substantial job growth

Figures represent net project-level and supply-chain jobs, measured in job-years, from 2026 to 2035, relative to a baseline policy scenario. The development of infrastructure and supply-chain facilities accounts for most of this growth, but project operations and maintenance could still represent tens of thousands of job-years.


Note: State action refers to a clean electricity tax credit and manufacturing production credit (10% investment credit or $10/MWh production credit) for select clean energy technologies. Enhanced state action refers to a doubling of the electricity tax credit (20% or $20/MWh) along with a domestic content bonus credit (10%), an energy community revitalization credit (10%), a state revolving loan fund, and tax credit transferability. States modeled are Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
