From October 2022 to early April 2023, coverage of the Southern border exceeded gender identity, ranging from 0.5% of coverage time up to just over 1%. Meanwhile, gender identity coverage remains below 0.5% until April when it reaches numbers as high as 0.7%. From there, gender coverage remains at an elevated level and from June 2023 through September, it exceeds coverage of the border wall, peaking at 0.8% on Aug. 22 2023. From there, coverage falls sharply, with border coverage increasing and, once more, exceeding gender, with coverage as high as 0.8% by the end of September 2023. For gender, those are “pronouns”, “gender identity”, “sexual orientation” or “transgender.” For the Southern border, they are “Southern border” and “border wall.”
