Half-mile radius from future HSR station area covers huge part of downtown Fresno's core

A half-mile from the center of the planned location for the Fresno High-Speed Rail station, seen in blue, would cover a space that includes various well-known downtown sections and landmarks. 

The California High-Speed Rail Authority wants to control zoning and land-use within a one-half mile radius of its stations. The details of how this policy would work are not yet clear, but the agency has said it wants to capture the increase in sales and property tax revenues generated by the arrival of high-speed rail stations in an area.
