Researchers born in the United States are the largest recipients of the Nobel science prize, but their share of the prizes (fractional counting) is smaller than their share of the medals (full counting). Since 1901, 198 (32.62%) US-born researchers have received medals, accounting for 92.9 (28.12%) of the prizes. The fractional share is also lower for the United Kingdom, Japan and Australia, whereas the share is higher for Germany, Poland, France and Austria.
