Data indicates that forests have changed (deteriorated/ improved) from one forest class to another. The two periods of 2013-15 and 2015-17 have indicated a conversion of non forest areas to very dense forest (70% or more canopy density). This is unusual in the two year blocks when previous assessments showed them as non forest areas. How can non forest areas become dense forests in just two years unless they are fast-growing plantations? What has really happened is that these plantations went undetected by satellites in the sapling stage, but grew fast and are considered dense forests now.
